Andrea has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of electronics, biomedical devices, magnetic recording systems, and optical devices. She is currently preparing for the USPTO registration examination to become a registered patent agent.
Education B.S., Electrical Engineering, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Industry/Academic Experience Andrea has worked as both an Intern and Engineer at 3M in their commercial lighting and consumer electronics divisions. She has experience in a range of technologies, including pico projectors, optical films for signage, backlit displays, and architectural lighting. Her responsibilities included designing flexible electronic circuits, power electronics, and optical cavities for various LED systems. Andrea's laboratory experience gained her hands-on familiarity with varying technologies including: LEDs; LCoS; LCD and autostereoscopic 3D systems; multilayer, prismatic and light management films; optical metrology; and accelerated life testing for LED devices. While working on her degree, Andrea completed a directed study in the University of Minnesota's NanoFabrication Center in semiconductor device fabrication. She also served as the Engineering Communications Team Lead and as a member of the Engineering Controls Team on the University's 2009 Solar Decathlon Team. The team won 1st place in engineering and placed 4th overall in the school's first appearance at the Solar Decathlon.
Professional Activities Andrea is currently developing a program to support and encourage collegiate women in electrical engineering and to allow them to further explore their graduate or career interests through hands-on experiences.
