LILA's law firm model allows volunteer attorneys, mentor attorneys, paralegals, and law students to work in a virtual pro bono law firm environment to serve low income clients. The core of this model is the use of a LILA's computer server that connects teams of volunteer attorneys working at different law firms, law schools, and corporations. LILA allows attorneys at small law firms and corporations to achieve the team-based approach that has been successfully implemented at large law firms to serve low income clients.

LILA's approach benefits clients, volunteers, and other non-profit legal service agencies. For clients, LILA provides a team of volunteers with a variety of skills to address the clients' legal needs. For volunteers, LILA provides the opportunity to work collaboratively in a team with access to all case documents and support material through a secure central server, legal database access for forms and legal searches, a pro bono business address, email address, and office and conference room facilities for meeting with volunteer team members and clients.  Malpractice insurance is provided for volunteers taking screened and approved cases. For non-profit legal service agencies, LILA provides additional resources for their volunteers who wish to work in a collaborative team environment.

Through LILA and Hollingsworth & Funk, our attorneys and staff have helped dozens of low income clients gain access to the legal system.
